Thank you to every artist, gallery, curator, and collector who made the NFC Art Factory what it was this year. This was the most ambitious artistic programme we’ve ever put together - and it showed.

A special thank you to our co-organizers, Arab Bank Switzerland and Cult of Crypto Art, to Nina Roehrs for curating the SYSTEMS exhibition, and to Fanny Lakoubay and 100 collectors for leading the artistic direction and curation of this year’s edition.

SYSTEMS

Digital Art Prize / Exhibition

Held in conjunction with the 2026 Arab Bank Switzerland Digital Art Prize, SYSTEMS was a thematic exhibition that presents works by the prize’s three finalists - Gretchen Andrew, Jonas Lund, and Theo Triantafyllidis - in dialogue with a curated selection of works from the bank’s collection. Artists who submitted to the open call were invited to respond to the exhibition’s guiding theme, with submissions judged by an independent jury that included Giulia Bini, Armin Blasbichler, Abigail Miller, malte_fr, and Nina Roehrs.

Set within a former bread-production facility whose original machinery remains embedded in the architecture, the exhibition brought together practices that foreground the ubiquitous yet often invisible systems that govern what is made, seen, and valued today. Works encompass simulated worlds, miniature economies, and elaborate mechanical apparatuses, but in all cases, they are concerned less with surface outputs than the underlying processes and protocols that give rise to them.

Gretchen Andrew is the winner of the ABS Digital Art Prize 2026 with the work Facetune Portraits: Universal Beauty Vietnam.

Meebits Fútbol Announcement

Collector Adam Weitsman has acquired the remaining 805 Meebits from the historic Larva Labs collection.

With this acquisition, the Weitsman Collection becomes the largest Meebits collection in the world with 1036 works including Meebit #8368, the extremely rare Dissected.

Hash Gallery: Balloons In The Sky

Hash Gallery made its NFC Summit debut with Balloons In The Sky, a generative installation by Bård and Jennifer Ionson premiering at Unicorn Factory Lisboa.

Trained on 3,700 analog and digital photographs from a New Mexico balloon ascension, a custom styleGAN streamed an infinite flow of balloon imagery onto a 75-inch portrait screen.

Visitors pressed a single red button to freeze the machine at the moment they choose, instantly minting a unique NFT and receiving a print of the artwork.

Bitcoin Art Society: Code Is Art

Bitcoin Art Society unveiled Code Is Art, a new generative art collection by CyberSea, a resident artist at BAS.

The project explores code as artistic material, transforming algorithms, live systems, and evolving structures into artworks that move beyond static images while preserving their history permanently on Bitcoin.

CyberSea is in Lisbon alongside BAS founders Serge and Yara. Come meet them in person and discover the vision behind the collection.

Today, Unicorn Factory Lisboa became something else entirely. Four floors of the Art Factory came alive - from the Grand Hall to the AI Cave in the basement. The central plaza opened with Dmitri Cherniak’s large-scale LED triptych. Container galleries, tunnel murals, and solo shows filled every corner of the venue.

Artists were present throughout. Conversations happened in front of the work, not just on stage.

OpenSea: Shipping Container Galleries & XCOPY Mural

Following the success of last year’s container galleries, OpenSea returned with two new artists.

Efdot brought new work from his GLiFS project, minting on OpenSea now.

Jiwa displayed early outputs from his upcoming project: “Art is Capital”.

Two containers. Two previews. Both worth your time.

In addition, the creative mind behind the Brooklyn NFT Wall and the Node Foundation Punk Wall, MASNAH painted a mural of XCOPY’s The Doomed near the Central Plaza.

ETERNO: Parallel Terrains

ETERNO presented Parallel Terrains, bringing together exhibitions by Vhils and BOLDTRON that explore territory through excavation, memory, projection, and simulation.

Also part of the NFC program, ETERNO Gallery in Marvila opens Unpermissioned Self / Proof of Being tomorrow at 6PM, a group exhibition on portraiture after the internet featuring Amber Vittoria, PIV, Rainer Hosch, ZafGod, Pindar Van Arman, Coldie, Justin Aversano, and Dark0 Ristevski, with the last three taking part in the opening event.

DANAE

DANAE presents Calculated Skies, a solo project by French artist Eko33 (Jean-Jacques Duclaux), curated by Marlène Corbun.

A pioneer of digital and generative art, Eko33 explores the intersections of code, perception, and contemporary technologies. Through an immersive installation and a series of unique artworks, Calculated Skies invites visitors into a constantly evolving visual landscape where reflection, light, and algorithms become tools for contemplation and self-discovery.

ACAI Class is an intensive workshop track for artists, designers, photographers and creative technologists who want to work with AI as a serious image-making tool. Led by artist Boris Eldagsen, the class moves from conversational prompting and prompt editing into multi-step workflows with generators like Seedream and Nano Banana: working with existing image material, treating AI as a virtual camera, combining in- and out-painting, and building consistent characters across sequences.

Think less “one-click magic”, more art direction: how to control mood and lighting, steer colour palettes and styles, add or remove elements, refine details through upscaling and use negative prompts, role assignments and emojis for emotional control. Expect live demos, guided exercises and prompt “sparring” that connect these techniques into repeatable pipelines.

ACAI Kids brings the same curiosity to a younger audience with age-appropriate, guided sessions on AI and creativity. From “Monsterfy Yourself!” portraits to collaborative story-building, music experiments and first encounters with AI agents, kids explore how their own ideas, drawings and photos can grow into new visual stories with AI.

Workshops are designed to be playful but transparent: children see how working with AI shapes results while their own imagination stays at the center. Each session is led by experienced practitioners who balance experimentation with clear boundaries and media literacy.

The AI Art Magazine is an independent, artist-led print publication at the intersection of art and artificial intelligence. Across the Unicorn Factory Lisboa, a former agro-industrial flour mill, art fills an outdoor plaza, four floors of a historic building, murals across the venue, and dedicated spaces with digital art in all the forms it currently takes: generative, immersive, interactive, large-scale, intimate, NFTs, AI-driven, and physical.

Artists will be present throughout, in conversation with visitors.

Highlights include a never-before-seen digital installation by Vhils presented by ETERNO, a new project by Eko33 presented by DANAE, a giant outdoor LED sculpture by Dmitri Cherniak, four artist shows in industrial containers, and an origami station with Bryan Brinkman.

The exhibitions are curated in collaboration with Fanny Lakoubay and 100 collectors, with the support of Arab Bank Switzerland, Cult of Crypto Art, OpenSea, Tezos, and many more.

Why This Year Is Different

NFC has been asking the same question for five years: how do we build a digital art event that is genuinely open? Not just for collectors who already know the names, not just for people already inside the Web3 world, but for anyone who walks through a door and stops in front of something they cannot quite explain.

This year is the most serious attempt yet to answer that.

The Fábrica de Moagem was built as a total system. Grain arrived at the top, moved floor by floor through tubes and machines, and left as flour. For NFC 2026, that same logic shapes how the art is presented.

“Our role is that of meta-curator and puzzle solver: to organize the chaos of a genuinely plural field into something that moves with intention, where each space leads to the next. You might not like everything you see. That is not a failure of the program. It is what an honest experiment in a field this alive looks like.”

The Spaces and Exhibitors

The Central Plaza

The plaza is an agora where everything converges. At the center, a new large-scale LED triptych by Dmitri Cherniak, connected to his Ringers series, runs continuously outdoors against the industrial architecture.

Around it, container galleries present dedicated shows by Efdot and JIWA (supported by OpenSea), the Cult of Crypto Art container transformed into a temporary autonomous zone, and serc‘s on-chain generative pixel project, NORMIES. Tezos presents multiple community curations on a large LED screen.

Top Floor - SYSTEMS presented by Arab Bank Switzerland

Curated by Nina Roehrs, this exhibition brings together artists who work with systems in the broadest sense.

Ten works from the Arab Bank Switzerland collection by Kim Asendorf, Jack Butcher, Linda Dounia, Andreas Gysin & Sidi Vanetti, Larva Labs and others will be exhibited alongside those of the three ABS Digital Art Prize 2026 finalists: Gretchen Andrew, Jonas Lund and Theo Triantafyllidis.

Ground Floor - Grand Hall

The building’s largest volume. At the entrance, 100 collectors runs a welcome desk and meeting point for guided tours and questions about digital art, NFTs, blockchain-based art, and anything else you want to understand better.

Vhils and Boldtron, presented by ETERNO (Lisbon): Vhils is one of Lisbon’s most recognized artists, known for carving faces into walls across the world. Here, for the first time, his historic explosion works are shown in a digital presentation you have never seen before.

Beside them, Boldtron’s AI-generated creatures move through the factory’s original machinery.

Eko33’s Calculated Skies presented by DANAE (Paris, Milan): You walk into a room and the room reflects the sky. Not the sky outside, but one generated in real time by code, multiplied across mirrored surfaces until it appears to have no edges.

BitArt and Cybersea, presented by Bitcoin Art Society (Dubai, London): two artists working with generative code on Bitcoin. The first residents of the Robert Mallary Art Residency Program.

Bard Ionson, presented by HASH Gallery (London): Balloons In The Sky - a generative AI-driven landscape running continuously. Press the large red button to freeze a moment and claim it as a 1/1 NFT and physical print.

Second Floor - The Rare Art Floor

How many ways can digital art be shown? Each presentation makes a different argument. Solo artists next to galleries next to communities next to platforms.

The floor opens with Bryan Brinkman‘s new series Azulejo Galo, a generative work inspired by Lisbon’s tilework and Portugal’s rooster, launching at NFC Summit. Book a 10-minute slot to make origamis, spend time with the artist, and collect a work from the series. Link coming soon.

Also on the floor: solo shows by Maryam Hassani, Alan Bolton, Paradigmstories, and VEXA by Shils; Crash One by Cycol Gallery powered by Exchange Art; community displays by PEPEVAULT, DEGEDOG, Moon NFT, and SUPERNOVA; an NFT preservation project by the Digital Rescue Lab; and the presentation of Valerie C. Whitacre’s new book on art and blockchain.

The Inksea art lounge runs throughout the festival as a space to slow down. It features winners of the Inksea x NFC open call alongside guest curations, with timed takeovers by Hivemind‘s Digital Culture Fund, Arthemort, and artists Coldie, Martin Lukas Ostachowski, Ann Ahoy & Neurocolor, Hackatao, George Boya, Mattia Cuttini, Laurence Fuller, and Andrea Chiampo.

Basement - The AI Cave

The basement is where the mill’s transformation used to end. For NFC 2026, RnA Studio, a Lisbon-based creative studio, has turned it into a fully immersive space where art and machine intelligence take over the architecture. MOODSCAPE will present works by 204.ai, Jas Black, Cezar Mocan, Emmanuelle Collet & Giulio Trichilo from GLITCH Collective & Symbients, Trail of Angels VR, Lisbon Loras Community, and Juliette Studios. Spirit Protocol, with the support of VTV, presents an immersive installation that needs to be experienced in person. The artist presenting is GANCHITECTURE, an AI architect who builds worlds without buildings. Through agentic interactions with the audience, the installation reacts and evolves in real time, allowing visitors to shape the experience: Bring your own terminal!

The Tunnel Murals

With the support of the City of Lisbon, street art enters the Unicorn Factory as a permanent addition to the site. Masnah creates two new murals (supported by OpenSea), serc creates the world’s first normies mural, and the winner of the mural open call, Giorgio Mussati, unveils a triptych. Stefclaro, an artist from Johannesburg South Africa based in Lisbon, will also realize one of his portraiture murals.

The BOTTO Pop Up Shop

ElevenYellow hosts a McBotto pop-up experience: a playful, fast-food-inspired world built around collectible Botto toys, or Bottoys. The experience treats Botto as a pop-cultural icon, translating elements of its creative output into physical collectibles and immersive retail design.

The Crypto Stamp Corner

National postal services from around the world gather here to show what they are doing with digital collections and blockchain-based authentication. This year: Adphile & La Poste, The Austrian Post, Liechtensteinische Post AG, Swiss Post, and the Universal Postal Union, with new releases and exclusive editions debuting during the summit.

Participate to the special Hackatao treasure hunt via the5ource app to find Hackatao’s fragments and win a special stamp from their new collection with the Austrian Post.

The KAWAII Summit

Inside the same venue, a completely different world: pop culture, collectibles, cosplay, gaming, and kawaii culture. Live painting by Emily Teillaud, digital art by Polygon1993, major trading card tournament finals for Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, and One Piece, cosplay showcases, workshops, and curated merch.

Many Art Side Events

It’s impossible to get bored.

Alongside the many exhibitions, side events will unfold across the site throughout the week: MEEBITS, CRYPTOPUNKS, NORMIES, and XCOPY community gatherings, the Mr Richi brunch, the Botto AI Slop Party, The Tonight Show by Benny Redbeard (2nd edition), and more.

While the industry industrialised imagination, while art was flattened into engagement metrics, speculative assets, and corporate keynote aesthetics, something else kept growing underneath.

A parallel culture.
Decentralised. Stateless. Artist-led. Difficult to monetize correctly.

For five years, Cult of Crypto Art has returned to NFC Summit not as a brand, but as a disturbance.

This year, we occupy the summit once again with a container transformed into a temporary autonomous zone: part chapel, part pirate archive, part ritual space.

Inside: burned messages, collaborative altars, restoration experiments, documentaries, screenings, noise, drawings, conversations, and traces left behind by people who still believe art should remain dangerous.

Come interrupt the feed.

Katharsis Altar

At the center of the container stands the Katharsis Altar.

A collaborative audio-visual triptych created by artists of the Cult of Crypto Art, inspired by Hieronymus Bosch’s The Garden of Earthly Delights.

The installation transforms the container into a fragile chapel assembled from salvaged matter: scratched book pages, torn magazines, photographs, cardboard structures, candles, curtains, fragments of media archaeology.

Not a clean white cube.
A living ruin.

The triptych reinterprets Bosch’s vision through the anxieties and contradictions of contemporary network culture: hyperconnectivity, collapse, digital desire, algorithmic delirium, synthetic spirituality.

Visitors are invited to sit at the writing desk and leave a message on rice paper.

One thought per person.
One trace before disappearance.

R3ACH Ritual by plutonic mind

You are invited to participate in R3ACH -
a collective act of release, circulation, and transformation.

Write something.

A thought.
A confession.
A contradiction.
A symbol.
A truth too fragile for social media.

No censorship.
No authorship.
No identity.

Your message will be photographed and inscribed into a growing chain of fragments - a living archive minted on the Ethereum blockchain.

Then the paper will be burned.

Its physical form disappears.
Its digital trace remains.

On Friday 5th of June 6 pm, the altar transforms into a live ritual space.

Messages collected throughout the day will be photographed one by one, then burned publicly inside a small ceremonial incinerator.

Rice paper ignites instantly.
Minimal smoke.
Maximum disappearance.

Participants joining during the final hour will receive a wafer and take part in the collective burning ceremony.

A gesture of transmission.
A circulation of voices.
A release into the cloud.

The resulting fragments will later be assembled into a collective artwork.

Crypto Art - Documentary by George Boya & Ogar

A documentary exploring the origins of the crypto art movement through testimonies from the artists who lived it.

Not the sanitized history.
Not the venture capital rewrite.

The voices of the people who built culture before corporations discovered how to package it.

The documentary will screen continuously inside the container and may also be presented on the Main Stage during the summit.

Cult Curation

A continuous video exhibition curated by Jaen, featuring works from artists operating across the outer territories of crypto art, digital experimentation, internet folklore, and decentralized culture.

Signals from the edges of the network.

Broadcast endlessly inside the container.

Cult Conservation & Restoration Department

Platforms disappear.
Formats decay.
Links rot.
Startups implode.

Art should survive anyway.

The Cult Conservation & Restoration Department is an ongoing initiative dedicated to preserving digital artworks against platform death, technological obsolescence, and institutional neglect.

Visitors are invited to discuss archiving strategies, decentralized preservation, artwork migration, and the fragile archaeology of internet culture.

Because cultural memory should not depend on venture-funded infrastructure.

Cult Party

Thursday, June 4th - 10 PM to 2 AM.

We’ll plug in the speakers and see what emerges.

No VIP area.
No networking agenda.
No brand activation strategy.

Just sound, bodies, accidental encounters, and temporary freedom in the middle of the conference floor.

Throughout the Summit

The container remains open throughout the event.

Draw directly onto the walls with Posca markers.
Browse prints and clothes at the mini-shop.
Watch films.
Sit down.
Talk with artists.

Take a break from corporate optimism and come spend time with people who still make things with their hands, their machines, and their obsessions.
